Design
The medallion creation process:
Stage 1: Artwork and Design 1. Artwork & Design

The first step in producing your custom medallion is to create the design and artwork for production. This artwork will be approved by you prior to production. The design will be computerised 3D or manually sculptured where the artwork is then hand crafted onto graphite. Stage 5: Engraving 5. Engraving The next step is to personalise your medallion with engraving. This is done with computer engraving for clear text and visually appealing results.
Stage 2: Making the Die 2. Making the Die

The next step is to make a Die for the medallion (a Die is a tool used to stamp out or coin medals). In this step the image from the Graphite is embedded into the Die. Stage 6: Quality Check 6. Quality Check This is one of the final steps in production where medallions are checked very closely to meet our high criteria.
Stage 3: Stamping or Coining 3. Stamping or Coining

This step involves your medal being produced through either a stamping or coining process. Stage 7: Packaging and Despatch 7. Packaging & Despatch Once the medallions have passed the quality check they are packaged and dispatched.
Stage 4: Plating and Finishing 4. Plating & Finishing The Metal finishing process is one of the final steps of production. In this step the medallions are plated in either antique, bright or satin finish.

2D vs 3D Designs

Our custom medallions can be manufactured in 2 significantly different ways.

2 dimensional dies offer raised detail using a series of different "flat" heights in the die to create a 3D effect.

Our 3 dimensional dies are hand sculptured to produce true 3D features on your medallions, such as faces, etc.

The method used for producing each design is usually determined by your budget and the level of detail required in your medallions.
Medal materials can include precious metals

Material and Thickness

Medallions can be manufactured from a variety of metals including brass, copper and nickel silver and is usually determined by the plating required on the medal.

For truly prestigious medallions we can also manufacture using precious metals such as gold or silver. We are also the first company in Australia to have manufactured medallions from titanium for the Gold Coast Titans Player of the Year awards.

Material thicknesses can range from 2mm to 6mm.
